International percussionist Gloria Yehilevsky is a performer, composer and educator specializing in contemporary music. She was recently invited to perform in the 2018 Percussive Arts Society International Convention in November in Indianapolis, IN. As a soloist, she has placed international competitions, including having received the highest awarded prize in the 2017 Italy PAS International Vibraphone Competition; she is a Musical Merit Foundation protégé and won the PAS/Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship (2017).
In 2017, she toured Europe with the World Percussion Group including clinics and performances at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Sibelius Academy in Finland, and Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, among others. She has appeared throughout Europe and North America, including the Festival Ibérico de Música de Badajoz in Spain (2018) and Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN (2016 & 2017). In 2013 & 2014 she was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard front ensemble under the direction of Paul & Sandi Rennick.
Collaborations include the duo Enamta with Taiwanese percussionist Liz Kung, performance art creations with animator Shiyi Li, as well as commissions and premieres of works by Hanna Hartman, Wally Gunn, Brian Mason, Brett Copeland, Mattjis van Dijk, Erin Graham and Chalcedony Williams. While residing in Birmingham, United Kingdom, she was heard on BBC Radio 3 as part of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Royal Opening Gala, seen on BBC television with Millenial Percussion, and has performed in Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, CBSO Centre and the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
Primary teachers have included Brian Mason, Anders Åstrand, Adrian Spillett, Owen Gunnell and Alexej Gerrassimez. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. At MSU, she was recognized at the Outstanding Undergraduate in Music, Raymond P. Ross award recipient and a George M. Luckey Honors program scholar.
